Topic: Education as the key to a good life? – Social Work Perspectives on the political dimension of a contested term

Language: English

Abstract

While in education policy discourses education is primarily considered as a driver of individual, social and economic growth, there is less consensus in the academic world on what education is or should be about. In the current discourse of social work, there are debates about the different concepts of education and their role for social work theory and practice. In my presentation I will reflect on the most important aspects of the discourse, focusing on the political dimension of the term.
